China

Hey guys. I’ve uploaded a few photos from Beijing. No captions yet, but you’ll see the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, the view from the hotel window, and the Imperial Palace (ie the Forbidden City). For those who are curious as you page through the photos, I did climb the wall (883 meter staircase straight up) in dress shoes and a skirt, but for very good reason :)
More later…

Hiking the Great Wall in a Skirt — you are crazy. We will have to exchange pictures sometime –

WOW, these pictures are just like the pictures one sees in travel books. It must be exciting. Hope they give you some time to enjoy China.

I’d be disappointed if you’d worn anything else but a skirt! That just would not have been YOU!

I never realized the two places were so close together – 60 km… neat. I must agree with Nancy though that if you hadn’t worn a skirt, it wouldn’t have been right.

Yes…my reputation precedes. The reasoning is simple though…with 6 days of “business dress” and limited space in the luggage, I had to make hard choices. Bring trainers for the wall hike (large and difficult to fit), or just wear comfortable flats. As for the skirt, it was over 100 degress, and pants just wouldn’t work in that type of weather. And from the photos you can see that we also had a nice dinner at the wall–hence, the skirt. Though, I hate to admit it, I STILL would have worn a skirt otherwise. I guess it’s innate.
