Some folks have asked what we can't find in London. Here's a short list of the most recent findings:

Shortening (they have something by the margarine called "vegetable fat" here---but there's no Crisco! Butter flavor shortening is the secret ingredient in my cookies. We'll have to import it.

Cornbread mix. Who can serve Jambalaya without it...you'd think they'd have it somewhere?

Other differences and things we're getting used to:
Baking soda=bicarbonate of soda here.
Celsius rather than fahrenheit
Liters rather than pints or gallons
A tiny fridge (like the ones from college--no wonder everyone shops daily)
Windex that's not really Windex (theirs is more like water--it doesn't evaporate like ours)
The post offices here sell more than stamps--they also sell music cds, candy, magazines, etc.

What differences have you noticed in your travels here?

Me, too! Yesterday, we found our dishes there for a steal...for food, it's the Target of London.

Today, we're out to Ikea to pick up a few more household items.

Funny thing, thread count for sheets are so low here! It's rare to see sheets with higher than 180 or 200 count? We're on the hunt...
